AS Physics - 5F Option

Picture
Cambridge AS Level Physics forms the first half of a two-year pre-university Physics course. It requires students to demonstrate knowledge with understanding of Physics topics, to be able to handle, apply and evaluate information and to demonstrate experimental skills. The course will focus specifically on physics theory and how these ideas can be observed and demonstrated in the laboratory. All students will be encouraged to be active learners in this class.

Topics studied are:
  • Physical quantities and units
  • Measurement techniques
  • Kinematics
  • Dynamics
  • Forces
  • Work, power and energy
  • Phases of matter
  • Deformation of solids
  • Waves
  • Superposition
  • Electric fields
  • Current electricity
  • DC circuits
  • Nuclear physics
